Service Foods | 2020
Service Foods is New Zealand's largest family owned and operated food service distribution businesses.
With a growing business and team, Service Foods began building an incredible new distribution centre in Auckland, complete with a brand-new test kitchen and beautiful office spaces to meet their growing needs - set to open in November 2019.
Service Foods came to us in October, with the hope to create a fantastic event to celebrate the grand opening of the new building.
Their goal was to;
- Officially open the building in a dignified, symbolic and meaningful way
- Recognise the efforts of all staff and contractors who were behind the design and build
- Provide an opportunity to showcase the entire premises to invited suppliers, customers, family and friends
- Share the passion, commitment and personality of the Service Foods team
The first step was to organise the guest list and invitations to over 500 people, including officials, dignitaries, industry professionals, suppliers, and members of the community.
We created and managed an online invitation that allowed us to track RSVPs , ensuring accurate reporting of final numbers, dietaries and other expectations.
Logistically, there was a huge amount to coordinate in a short amount of time - including health and safety, marquee and decoration set up, food and beverage service, photography and videography, audio visual, parking and security.
With the final completion of the construction taking place in the weeks leading up to the event date, we made a decision to hold the formal opening in a marquee, and transformed the carpark into the perfect place to celebrate!
As always for any event we create, we handpicked the best suppliers in each of these categories to ensure we would create a uniquely special event, delivered to standards we all aspire to.
On the day of the event the excitement was visible as guests began to arrive and gather in the marquee.
Greg from OneNineFive was the MC of the event, and welcomed all guests including Hon Grant Robertson, New Zealand’s Minister of Finance.
After a series of inspiring stories and thank you’s from the owners of Service Foods, the family and Hon Grant Robertson ‘cut the ribbon’ and formally opened the premises. They then embarked on the first site tour, with other guided tours taking place over the remainder of the afternoon.
As the tours took place, the demonstration kitchen and food and beverage stations came alive with flavour and excitement. Delicious catering, cocktails, beers, and wine started flowing into the marquee for guests, as they mingled, networked and celebrated this milestone for the company.
At the end of the day, it was easy to see that Service Food’s goals for the event had been achieved - smiles were abundant, the new premises amazed and inspired guests, friends in the hospitality industry reconnected, and new connections were made.
“What a wonderful event. Congratulations on all you did to bring so many people and parts together and creating a style of event just perfect for the occasion.”
Gerhard Zitzenbacher, Service Foods Customer
